Hong Kong Institute of Contemporary Culture
HKICC is a non-profit, non-government community-initiated organisation founded in Hong Kong for promoting cultural development from local, regional to international level. Steered by a voluntary board and executive committee with members from various arts, cultural and educational fields, the institute has proactively strived to expand the sphere and scope of cultural cooperation and exchange between Hong Kong and numerous cities in different regions since its inception in 1996.
Embracing a broad cultural vision for the development of sustainable cultural pluralism and a creative civil society, HKICC advocates a cultural perspective for developments in various aspects and at different levels, by organizing cultural exchanges (between Hong Kong and the rest of the world), promoting the creative industries and creative education, research programs and art development projects.
HKICC is the sponsoring body of Hong Kong’s unique senior secondary school to nurture creative talents – the HKICC Lee Shau Kee School of Creativity. In the last three years, the Home Affairs Bureau has commissioned HKICC to organise two international conferences to facilitate cross sector dialogues for the furtherance of creative education. The Commerce and Economic Development Bureau has sponsored MaD to be organized by HKICC for young people in Asia since the first MaD in January 2010.
