Robin Hood Reincarnation Session
Shuffle the excess

Facilitator: Elena SIMONS

A quarter of the people in our material world find stuff piling up around us and choking us, while three quarters of us wish we could get hold of more stuff. The situation in which some own too little and others own too much, is clearly not optimal to human happiness.

In this workshop we will take a radical approach and see if we can reinvent material reality. How might the excess that troubles some, be redistributed to those who crave it? What would Robin Hood do if he were reincarnated today? Looking at your own life, what do you have too much of? How might you amaze mankind by passing it on?

Through creative brainstorm techniques we will apply our playful intelligence to the creation of wild and naughty plans. By the end of the workshop we will have mastered the noble art of Excess Redistribution.

Digital Storytelling Masterclass
Storytelling as a powerful tool

Facilitator: Nury VITTACHI

Storytelling is for everyone. No longer are writers defined as rare individuals who churn out a novel every few years. Today, we recognize that we all tell stories all the time, whether we are at work or having a casual conversation. Developing our ability to construct narratives is one of the most powerful skills anyone can have.

These days, we have many tools to help us tell stories, including the written word, video, audio, and other tools – and we can even blend in interactive elements. But the finest technology in the world won't create great storytelling without one prime tool: the imagination.

In this workshop, you will learn:

* How to create great stories
* The underlying "bones" of classic tales
* The secret of endless creativity
* How tales for books, comics, movies and videos differ
* What you need to know to be a successful story-creator

Nury VITTACHI
Author (HK)

Nury VITTACHI is an author who has worked on numerous books, screenplays and dramas. His work has been published around the world in many languages. He was recently chief judge of one of the world's biggest fiction prizes.

If you think u r wrong, u r almost right!!
Unorthodox Remaking of Sound
Facilitator: WONG Chung-fai (Sin:Ned)

Creativity is of ultimate importance to our existence. Even the commercial world is investing more and more on training their employees to think “out of the box”. However, we are still facing a creativity crisis – in our everyday life and in our work. What is hindering our ability to think out of the box?

Through examining the history and practice of unorthodox sound making, you will see that the lack of creativity is closely related to the one-sided development of our rational culture, and our learned mentality of seeing errors, chaos, randomness and disorder as undesirable results. With hands-on experiment on unorthodox sound making, you will develop an appreciative eye for the beauty of errors and randomness, which in turn, will free us from our tunnel vision of pure rationality, and enable us to see beyond the box.

WONG Chung-fai (aka Sin:Ned)
Sonic artist and writer (HK)

WONG Chung-fai is an idiosyncratic sonic artist who hacks and twists anything he can put his hands on. His interest ranges widely from improvisation, sound art, experimental music, and noise art to field recordings.

He took part in the HK Sound and Vision Festival (2003), Get It Louder (2007), Hong Kong & Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (2007, 2009), Notch Festival Guangzhou Station (2009), and was a major contributor to the legendary Hong Kong alternative music magazine MCB (Music Colony B-Weekly).
