Winner list of MaD Award 2011!

The three finalist teams from the young adult category presented their projects on stage at MaD2011. After the voting by MaDees, the winner goes to Laputa Eco-Construction Material (HKSAR).  Home of the Elderly (HKSAR) and Bookbridge (Germany/Switzerland) receive the first runner-up and second runner-up respectively. 

For the student category, the judges have decided to confer a Merit Award to Project Little Dream (HKSAR) and Connect Tanzanian Children with the World Wide Web (Taiwan).

Special Mention are given to SourcePilani and AV Peduli (Ecopreneurship) as the judges are impressed by the passion of the two teams to make a difference to villages in India and Indonesia respectively.


MaD Award 2011

MaD inspires and empowers young people to be the change.

Evolving around creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation and discovery, it supports young people to create positive personal, economic, social and environmental change.



The Make a Difference (MaD) Award aims to:

  • promote the value of creativity and innovation in solving problems and identifying opportunities
 
  • encourage and facilitate inter-disciplinary collaboration amongst young people

  • encourage and enable aspiring changemakers to realise their vision and passion

  • recognize, reward and champion outstanding changemakers who have made a difference economically, socially, environmentally and/or culturally



Assessment Criteria:

The submissions will be assessed by:

  • the economic, social, cultural and/or environmental values of the initiative (40%)

  • the creativity, compassion, inter-disciplinary collaboration, cosmopolitan nature of the venture/project/campaign (15%)

  • the sustainability and/or potential of the initiative (30%)
  • the leadership, communication, execution and crisis management skills of the team members (15%)

  • The scores of the panel of judges will constitute 80% of the total, and the remaining 20% will be determined by the votes at the MaD 2011 Forum.
