With brilliant insight, the opening keynote speakers at MaD 2012 shared with participants the mindset and values needed for this challenging era.

From the talk by Uffe ELBÆK (Minister of Culture, Denmark + Founder, KaosPilots), a young participant Tony YET came to think about the seemingly unnoticeable changes in society. He encouraged us to be sensitive to these changes by hearing the forefront talks at MaD.

MaD 2012 has closed its curtain, but the discussion keeps going online. A lot of young participants wrote about their learning and thinking from the MaD Forum. It is fair to predict 2012 as a year to proactively explore and to reflectively mature.

The interactive music performance presented by GayBird (Composer + Electronic Music Researcher)  was eye-opening. His ingenious use of modern technology broke the wall between audience and the stage, as well as triggered a discussion on the relationship between technology and alienation. Just listening to the piece gave you long-lasting enjoyment of electronic music.

When the construction work of West Kowloon Cultural District has begun, MaD took the chance to host a wide array of workshops and art happenings at West Kowloon Promenade. Hong Kongers joined in to widen the stretch of the artistic space and share this cultural hub with self-initiation and creativity.
